The Four Best Arguments Against Cheap Tires - Vol.359

Many experts argue that tires are the most important components of your car, and that you shouldn't buy them cheap. Here are the four main reasons why you should never settle for low-quality tires.

1. Safety
This is the primary reason why you should never buy cheap tires for your car. Whenever we are talking about car safety, tires come up pretty high on the list, sometimes at the first position. It's not that cheap tires cannot look good, or even feel good while driving; the problem is that they don't last very long, and even more importantly, they don't do too well in different weather conditions. They could have good grip one day and perform terribly the next, when the temperature or humidity is different.

All it takes is a cheap set of tires and wildly different road conditions, and you could fly off the road, especially in rainy weather. Cheap tires tend to do reasonably well on dry roads, but once there is rain, they become extremely dangerous. In some cases, there is a 70 or even 100-feet difference in stopping distance, which is enormous. Safety should not have a price-- don't put one on it.

2. Quality
Bad tire quality can be a constant source of annoyance. When you buy cheap tires, you are often faced with irritating quirks, like the sound they make, or the fact that they feel like you are driving on gravel all the time. With high quality tires, you can avoid these annoying factors, and enjoy your car at its best.

3. Lack of Longevity
The lack of longevity is a usual theme with cheap tires, and that often raises safety and cost-related concerns. Whether you buy them online or from a car shop, cheap tires don't last long enough for you to enjoy them. You either end up in an accident once the tires give out, or you are forced to replace them all the time ?it's a lose-lose situation either way.

4. Costs
Costs?! You may be thinking this cannot be true; after all, the whole point of going cheap on the tires is to save money. Yet, going down that road could actually have serious financial repercussions that could set you back much further than buying a top-notch set of tires would. There are multiple reasons for this, and some have long-term implications.

Before we talk about that, let's start with the most obvious aspect, the lack of consistent output. Cheap tires tend to malfunction, and that is why they can cost you a lot more than their initial price. Think about it -- you could be looking at a replacement within a month or so, which when added up, can surpass the cost of a quality set of tires that could last for years. The other scenario is even darker. If you use bad tires, your risk of being involved in a serious accident increases.

Even if it's not a serious accident, it could leave your car in a bad condition. The repair work could cost you more than 10-year worth of tires, so risking it is just not worth it. Even if you avoid any accidents, the extra wear and tear that the cheap tires put on your vehicle could still come back to haunt you.

Cheap tires never really work out, and unless you have a car that you use strictly for shopping nearby, you should just forget about them.

Summary
The problem with cheap tires is that they don't work, even when you think they do. If you are a good driver, you can manipulate them in a way that doesn't feel forced. Even if that is the case, they still create unnecessary wear and tear on your vehicle, and eventually, that turns into a mechanical problem. A set of high quality tires definitely costs you more, but it will not only make driving safer for you, but also protect your car better.
